  • How Does GetExplored.com Work?

Quite simple… it is based on the power of numbers.

Flickr’s exposure algorithms are quite linear: you post in a group, get some exposure and then the views of your images get back to zero as your image gets buried along with another thousands of images of that group, or you upload a new picture, if you have some people that call you a contact they might see your image in their contacts gallery if their other contacts won’t upload something after you do, and so on…

But now, things are changed: you can put your images in front of thousands of avid image viewers just like you.

    How?

Quite simple: with your help we form a 7×7 level forced matrix that should give you exposure to quite a lot of people.

Also, being a forced matrix it means spillover, so even if you don’t have 7 friends to tell about this, you will get a down-line.

    Here are some numbers:

    Level 0 – You
    Level 1 – 7 friends
    Level 2 – 7×7 = 49
    Level 3 – 49×7 = 343
    Level 4 – 343×7 = 2401
    Level 5 – 2401×7 = 16807
    Level 6 – 16807×7 = 117649
    Level 7 – 117649×7 = 823543

You might be afraid that you will get too many images to view… Don’t be! You will only have to view 7 images per day. Exactly, one image per day from a member of each level of your up-line (your sponsor, your sponsor’s sponsor and so on).

    Are comments mandatory? No!

Is it mandatory to add the images you see as favorites? No!

All you have to do is to view your up-line’s images.

This is the price you have to pay for a massive exposure for your images.

PS: Here are the first five groups for today (May 28, 2009):

  • Flickr Explore 101

Here are some tips you should keep in mind if you want to see your photos on Explore:

    • have an interesting photo
    • the image must include EXIF data
    • tag your photo with relevant tags
    • get as many favorites as you can
    • get as many comments as you can
    • get as many visits as you can
    • favorites matter more than comments, and comments are more important than visits
    • if you can get comments/favorites from other expert photographers (guys that had their images on Explore) that’s even better
    • post your photo early in the day

Now, here is a list of things you should avoid:

    • don’t post in groups with adult content or content that is rated as not safe. (it seems that if you do this, the foto is flaged and even if you remove it later it still won’t make it into Explore)
    • don’t post in groups that force people to comment
    • don’t post your image in more than 5 groups at a time – the more groups your image is in, the more penalized it will be

Also, please keep in mind what Flickr says:

“There are lots of things that make a photo ‘interesting’ (or not) in the Flickr. Where the clickthroughs are coming from; who comments on it and when; who marks it as a favorite; its tags and many more things which are constantly changing. Interestingness changes over time, as more and more fantastic photos and stories are added to Flickr.”

Keep these in mind, and if you need help with the visits/comments/favorites we have a solution for you.
